According to legend, at the time in question, a knight was hunting in the growing wilderness here on Sunday. When he hunted a deer, the black blood gushing from his liver doused his face and eyes, making him blind. This was a punishment for working on a holy day. Repenting for his sin and begging the Mother of God for rescue she appeared and ordered him to bury his hands in the sand and wash himself with the water that would appear. A spring gushed from the sand, the knight after washing himself in its water regained his sight. According to villagers, the spring has enjoyed a cult since ancient times, while its healing power is said to be particularly helpful in eye diseases. The spring was buried in the 1930s during the construction of a nearby road. In 1999 it was found. Its water now feeds the parish pond, next to the well there is a mound of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a statue of a seated knight. The figure of the knight is also associated with a legend about the origins of the church. The knight was said to have fallen asleep under larches, in a dream the Virgin Mary appeared to him saying "I am coming here from Italy and here you will erect a church for me."
