KURASZEWO - COUNTERS, GM. CZYŻE, POW. HAJNOWSKI

The spring is located at the foot of a small hill, by the road from Kuraszewo to the village of Lady. On the hill are the remains of an early medieval cemetery with stone-encased graves called "Zamczysko". The cult of the spring dates back to the 1930s and is associated with the activities of Teodor Pavluchuk, known as "Fedia the Blind," who convinced the local population of the miraculous and healing properties of the water in this place. On his initiative, a wooden chapel dedicated to the Holy Brothers Maccabees was erected in the cemetery in 1942, using boulders from the grave frames as foundations. The spring was surrounded by crosses brought by the faithful. Today, the spring is cased and roofed.
