Kuźnica, Kuźnica municipality, Sokólski district

KuźnicaA stone cross made of gray granite, made in a rather archaic style, it is not possible that it is a half-finished product. At the finial of the cross there is a visible image of a human face or skull, possibly a demonological figure. Clearly marked eyes, nose, mouth, chin and hair (according to one villager, the so-called "bane" or plague is supposed to be depicted on the cross). In the central part inscriptions (probably in Latin).

KuźnicaThe stone cross is topped by an iron cross, nailed opposite the front of the monument towards the road. The monument itself is set with its front facing the fields. From the road, the depiction of the face and the inscriptions are not visible.
Originally, the monument was located in a different place, at a road intersection, where it lay in a horizontal position next to a shrine. During the construction of the highway and new houses in the 1990s, the cross was knocked over by an excavator, then local residents placed it by the roadside where it stands now - on the right side of the road from Kuznica to Nowodla. There was also supposed to be a stone with an image of a human foot near the cross, but it was destroyed during road construction.

KuźnicaIn the course of conducting interviews among the local population, no legends or tales related to the monument were noted. Local name of the monument: "plate"
