KRASNE, GM. UŚCIMÓW, POW. LUBARTOWSKI

Stone on the shore of Lake Krasne, in the village of Krasne. Possibly worked (old millstone?). According to local legend, "Our Lady of Sowing" wandered this way during the Tartar invasion carrying the infant Jesus in her arms. Exhausted, she squatted on a stone and left an imprinted footprint. Next to it is a smaller footprint of the Infant Jesus. The boulder is 1.7 × 1.5 meters in diameter. Flat, in the shape of an ellipse. On its surface you can see a longitudinal crack and two depressions - according to tradition, footprints.

According to a legend recorded by J. Stefanski, "there was a town on the site of the present Krasne Lake. But its inhabitants were inhospitable, unfriendly and often cursed. One hot day, a tired and thirsty Mother of God with little Jesus in her arms came to the town and, resting on (...) a stone, asked for a cup of water. Unfortunately, the residents, busy arguing, did not give her water. Then the angered Mother of God took a stick in her hand and, striking the stone twice with it, was about to say: let the inhabitants of this city drink water for the rest of their lives, because they did not want to give it. Then the city of bad people flooded with water and Lake Krasne was formed. The Mother of God, with Jesus in her arms, standing on a stone, swam across the lake and stopped on the western shore. Footprints of the Mother of God and little Jesus remain on the stone. Also visible are two transverse cracks, which, according to the story, were left by the blows of the Virgin Mary's stick."
