KORYCIN - SAINT SPRINGS, COMMUNE. KORYCIN, POW. SOKOLSKI

Springs in the Parsonage Park in Korycin, once held in veneration by local residents. The park is part of the church complex in Korycin, which also includes the parish church of the Finding and Elevation of the Holy Cross, a bell tower, a gate and a cemetery with chapels. According to legends, a pagan place of worship was supposed to have functioned in the past on the hill occupied by the church today. In the early 16th century a church was erected in its place. Another tradition states that a miraculous image of the Blessed Virgin Mary (from before 1633) was found in the riverbed at the site of the spring. The spring and the image enjoyed special veneration in the 17th century. Numerous believers came here. According to beliefs, water from this place had miraculous healing powers. In the 18th century the cult of the place began to dim, but did not die out completely. Today the place is adjusted to tourist traffic. Access to the spring is unlimited.
